Default position: stupid

Watching the news, reminded of Menken's dictum: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the American people." The U.S. just dropped three places in literacy and five places in infant mortality, we're finally close to getting the medical delivery system to state-of-the-art 1950, and we are now on a third day's worth of news cycle regarding a cop who got all upset when his use of "command voice" failed to work. Sheesh.
